The Atlanta office supported Cascade Elementary School. David Escobar (far left), Kris Freeman(front) and Mike Singer (far right) from our office presented 986 books, tapes, computer games, etc. to Dr. Alfonso Jessie, the school's Principal. The Story Behind Atlanta's School was an initial call to Dr. Jesse. As I began to tell him about the "Terrific Tales" project and how Cascade Elementary would be the school to benefit from our efforts, he was very quiet. I could tell he thought I was actually trying to sell him something. So, he asked "What is it that you want from me?"  When I responded that all I wanted was to know if they would be at the school on April 1 when we delivered the books, he was stunned! All he could say was "No way!" His whole demeanor changed. Dr. Jessie said that these things rarely happen for their school and he just couldn't believe it. I told him our goal was 200 books and he began shouting to the school secretary that Convergint was bringing free books! It was great!! We will be delivering the books to Cascade in a Convergint truck and Dr. Jessie asked if the school could do a press release. He went on to say that it won't be the biggest news in Atlanta, but it was huge for them. When picking a school we went with Atlanta Public Schools because they are a customer. After some research, we realized that the poverty level in some of these schools was unbelievably high. Cascade has a poverty level of 99%. This puts a real sense of purpose to the efforts we are making here in Atlanta! -Kris Freeman
