With extensive experience in the security industry, I originally began my career in the manned guarding side and slowly moved into the remote monitoring/security operations centre side. I Joined Convergint as the Commercial lead for our GSOC in Dublin nearly 2 years ago. With the emerging technology these days along with the likes of AI platforms and the monitoring thereof, there are endless amounts of possibilities for what we can achieve within our Security Operation Centres.

The main challenge we face is resourcing. As we scale large GSOC & SOC Solutions on a global basis, finding competent and highly trained operators can prove quite challenging but we have wide industry connections and strong relationships with specialist recruiters who support us. The other challenge we face is keeping up with new and evolving technology. As technology these days is fast-moving and ever-changing, our GSOC team continually needs to keep up-to-date with evolving solutions and technology available on the market in order for us to bring these solutions to clients, which can further assist with monitoring and managing a security system in a more accurate and efficient manner. 

The biggest opportunities are a result of the benefits of our GSOC Solutions. Building and maintaining an effective GSOC in-house can prove costly and complex for customers. The benefits of outsourcing a GSOC involve streamlining a customer’s global monitoring to one location. Discovery. A discovery discussion with a client is imperative. Asking questions to fully understand what a client wishes to gain from their security system, understanding their infrastructure, premises, area, and spending time with a client. This procedure allows our team to recognise how the client expects their operations to run, and discuss solutions that can even assist with their internal processes. When we gather all of this information we look at tailoring GSOC solutions accordingly. Ensuring what is important to the client is deliverable.
