In 2016, two employees at a hospital in Emory, GA illegally diverted more than a million doses of controlled substances in a scheme that lasted nearly five years. The Associated Press recently reported that U.S. federal authorities are stepping up investigations at Department of Veterans medical centers, due to a sharp increase in opioid theft, missing prescriptions, or unauthorized use by employees, according to government data obtained by the AP. These are examples of the growing drug theft problem across the U.S.

According to Hamilton, the average pharmacy theft is over in just 3.5 minutes, making the culprit difficult to track down. Convergint partners with Hamilton to provide pharmacy safes with the security capabilities that pharmacies need for storing certain types of drugs, along with other valuables and confidential documents.
