Security Operations Centers (SOCs) can no longer function as reactive, one-way collectors of security-centric information. They must adapt to the changing threat landscape and learn to contribute to the organization’s fiscal, personnel, operational, and environmental strategies. SOCs, however, were created to address specific issues that existed at a specific time in the organization’s history. Most SOCs have simply grown to handle the volume of the alarms they monitor, rather than in response to changes in the threat landscape.
Convergint believes that the next stage in the evolution of security operations is the Fusion Center. Simply put, a Fusion Center leverages the benefits we identified earlier of centralized management, visibility and communications, and expanded capabilities to create an SOC that is fully integrated, fully aware, and fully collaborative.
Below, Scott Frigaard with Convergint’s Digital Transformation team gives a brief video introduction to the Strategy Session he will be hosting at the upcoming InSight Innovation Summit. This session will highlight the benefits of fusion centers, and detail how fusion centers leverage innovative technology to enhance situational awareness and overall safety. Register for the event to sign up for this strategy session with Convergint Thought Leader Scott Frigaard during InSight from May 18th-20th.
