Parking is a big headache for healthcare facilities. Many hospitals have parking lots or garages that are for patients, visitors, and physicians only. Security directors are tasked with making sure only those authorized people a facilities’ parking lot.

Partnered with Avigilon, Convergint can implement License Plate Recognition (LPR) analytics to help healthcare facilities. LPR manages parking issues, which makes them more secure.

License Plate Recognition (LPR) Analytics

LPR analytics greatly improves the security of any facility or campus because it automatically reads license plate information and empowers security teams to monitor, catalog, and search for all vehicle plates captured by enabled cameras. The the Avigilon H4 License Plate Capture (LPC) camera is used for situations where it is crucial to obtain character recognition at higher vehicle speeds. LPC is designed to capture vehicle license plates, even in challenging lighting conditions.

Benefits of LPR technology include the following:

  • Catalogs and searches for captured plate numbers even without knowing all characters

  • Receives notifications from watch lists for any known license plates

  • Allows license plate capture at vehicle speeds up to 100 kph (62 mph)

  • Gives a much greater depiction of characters on reflective number plates

  • Provides multiple installation options for simplistic deployment

  • Withstands challenging climates to be operational with a temperature rating from -30–50°C (-22–122°F)

Security teams can add another layer of protection and verification by receiving alerts on any known restricted plates and quickly finding the associated video to ensure the most effective monitoring of larger facilities. License plates can also be used as an authentication factor to grant access to parking facilities or restricted areas to add an extra layer of confirmation.
