For a global company to reach this level of service excellence, it takes local colleagues working hard every day to provide a personal touch. For nearly 40 years, Bobby Yates has been his customers’ best service provider. He still holds his first two accounts and has a well-known 24/7 service policy with his customers.

With nearly 40 years of experience under his belt, Bobby has seen it all. Starting out in safe and vault work in 1979, he quickly moved to alarms and film cameras (which soon would convert to video). He was promoted to lead tech and installer in 1981 and now has been tech support for the last 15 years.

Although Bobby did not start out in digital, he found the transition easy because he enjoyed learning about technology and was able to keep up with the changing trends. It also made his work easier, he no longer had to fight for the best payphone, but instead could make multiple work calls during his commutes.

During his time in the industry, he has gone through two company acquisitions, and the loyalty of his customers has shone through. Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union of Columbia, SC is a long-time customer, and Eddie Jones has been a representative of the company that has worked with Bobby for over 20 years. “If I need something, he’s right there; if I have a call, he’s right there; if I have an appointment, he’s right on time,” Jones said.

Convergint invests annually in training and certifications to ensure colleagues are highly trained and skilled to be prepared to help any customer. Bobby is a qualifying licensed agent in South Carolina for Burglary and Fire and is also certified by National Safe in safes, vaults, and Radionics Alarms. Additional certifications include all March Networks and Verint video, Interlogix alarm, access and director servers, DMP alarms, software, and entre servers. Bobby has also served as a member on Interlogix National Advisory Committee.

In his spare time, Bobby likes to spend time with his grandkids and play golf.
