Convergint Oceania is proud to announce the success of its joint venture partnership with Conduent Transportation. The partnership has been selected by the Victorian Government to implement an advanced, contactless payment and account-based transport ticketing system to modernise Victoria’s existing myki transport ticketing solution.

The Victorian Minister for Public Transport Ben Carroll announced the new $1.7 billion contract to deliver a more efficient and effective transport ticketing solution so all transport users can safely and seamlessly access, use, and pay for public transport.

Following trials commencing in 2024, improvements will be progressively added to the existing payment options and will allow passengers to tap on and off with their credit or debit card and pay with a digital wallet on a smartphone or smartwatch. The Managing Director of Convergint Oceania, Dean Monaghan, said the decision was a testament to the depth of talent and expertise of the Convergint Australia team.

“As a systems integrator, Convergint works alongside a global network of partners and manufacturers to design, install, and service security, fire alarm, life safety, audio-visual, and building automation solutions for enterprise customers. Our role in the joint venture brings critical local expertise to the delivery of Victoria’s new transport ticketing system.”

A visit to Convergint’s Victorian headquarters in Port Melbourne by Minister Carroll earlier this month provided an opportunity for Minister Carroll to meet some of the team who will now add the Department of Transport to an already impressive and growing list of high-profile clients which includes a number of Fortune 500 companies and State and Federal Government agencies.

“We’re incredibly proud of the work we deliver for our clients in Australia, and particularly the Victorian Government who was our foundation customer nearly 20 years ago. We’ve now grown our national footprint to employ over 250 people across Australia and New Zealand. In the process, we’ve become one of this region’s most trusted brands for seamlessly integrated technology solutions. At Convergint, our greatest strength is our people. Our Values and Beliefs are a compass for our business, and drive our culture of service to customers, colleagues, and communities.”
