On Wednesday, the 14th of June 2023, Convergint UK joined ASIS UK for their Summer Seminar for their 30 year celebration. This event took place at the Oval cricket ground in London and had a packed full agenda including panel discussions, tabletop exercises, and industry-renowned speakers. The event was filled with captivating discussions and abundant networking chances among security professionals.

During the seminar, ASIS UK was joined by Love Activism leaders and mentors. Love Activism spoke on how to bring about positive changes in the world as a leader, creative visionary, serial entrepreneurship, and philanthropist.

Following on, ASIS next engaged in a panel discussion on Inspiring the Next Generation: Strategies and Tools for Motivating Future Security Leaders. This panel was chaired by Richard Brooks CPP PSP PCI, NextGen Director, and panelists consisted of Convergint’s Shakirra Patel, Account Executive, Nicci Cooper, Service Delivery Manager, Securitas/Microsoft, Michael Bell, Physical Security Project Co-ordinator EMEA/APAC, CBRE, and Lisa Baskott, Founder & CEO, 2nd Line of Defence.

“I recently joined ASIS and luckily just right in time for the Summer Summit of UK Chapter. I was blown away by the extensive contents provided throughout the day. Not only had we got the chance to network and meet up with people in the industry but also to listen to the speakers many of whom are not from the industry, who are bringing in their own experience from different perspectives. I was particularly impressed by the talk on Women’s safety. Being a mother of two young children, a girl and a boy I can totally relate and see how important it is to raise awareness for this initiative. I can speak all day on this one. But overall, I’m very glad I came to the event and would like to thank all of the board members of the ASIS UK Chapter who have worked relentlessly to organise these amazing events. I’m also very proud that Convergint is a of the main sponsors of the UK Chapter.”

The seminar led onto talks from Mirela Sula, CEO and Founder of Global Woman Magazine and Global Woman Club; an established, respected psychologist and journalist/author, and TedX Speaker, and a second panel discussion on Women’s Night Safety: Building Safe Spaces and Strengthening Communities.

The event closed with a networking session where Convergint had a booth, and an ASIS UK 30th anniversary celebration.
