What is your background in the security industry?

I have an extensive background in the security industry, spanning 43 years. I began my journey as a service technician and steadily progressed through various managerial roles. My experience includes working for both global and local companies in the Netherlands, culminating in my current position at Convergint.

What are the important industry trends that you're seeing in the Netherlands?

The security industry in the Netherlands is witnessing significant trends, primarily driven by advancements in technology. Notably, there’s a shift towards artificial intelligence, data utilisation, and the Internet of Things. This transformation is manifesting in the enhanced functionalities of security systems, such as face recognition and license plate recognition in camera systems.

What are some challenges Convergint are facing in the Netherlands?

One of the significant challenges Convergint encounters in the Netherlands is a lack of awareness. While we excel in managing global accounts, we remain relatively unknown locally. Convincing customers about our identity and capabilities becomes crucial. The challenge lies in dispelling the perception that we are a small company, particularly at the local level.

What upcoming opportunities do you see for Convergint in the Netherlands?

The evolving technological landscape presents numerous opportunities for Convergint in the Netherlands. The potential lies in offering customers new capabilities through emerging technologies. To capitalise on these opportunities, we recognise the importance of increasing our visibility through effective marketing, thereby fostering significant business growth in the region.

What advice do you have for someone looking to join the security integration industry?

My advice for those entering the security integration industry is to be proactive in exploring the diverse opportunities within the evolving landscape. As the industry undergoes rapid technological changes, individuals should develop skills beyond traditional roles, including programming and a solid understanding of the Internet. Embracing these changes will open doors to exciting possibilities.
