Convergint’s affinity group for women, Convergint Women Connect, aims to evolve Convergint’s culture through advocacy, education, community, and visibility. Their mission is to make Convergint the most equitable and inclusive global service provider for women of all identities and backgrounds. Through visibility, CWC’s goal is to foster an environment that lifts underrepresented voices within Convergint and the industry through initiatives focused on recognition and networking. To recognize and celebrate women across Convergint Nation, Convergint Women Connect has created the Daily Difference Award.

The Daily Difference Award is a peer-nominated recognition award given to women at Convergint who make a daily difference by representing one of the company’s most deeply-held Values and Beliefs: I have integrity–it’s what I do when no one’s watching.

This quarter, Nathalie Desjardins was one of three Daily Difference Award recipients, nominated by her colleagues for having exceptional leadership skills. Nathalie consistently motivates and empowers her colleagues, propelling them towards success on a daily basis. Read the interview below where Nathalie discusses her career at Convergint, and how she continues her efforts in delivering the best service possible.

Tell us a little bit about your career with Convergint.

I’ve been a part of Convergint since our acquisition in 2018, although my journey in the industry began back in 2000. Initially, I started as a receptionist, handling phone calls and various administrative tasks. However, I was very interested in understanding the industry more which led me to explore further opportunities. Along the way, I gained quite a bit of knowledge, always staying observant and receptive, and seeking assistance whenever needed. Today, I’m proud to be the  person who offers support and guidance to my colleagues whenever they need it!

You won the Daily Difference Award based on your ongoing commitment to Convergint’s V&B: I have integrity–it’s what I do when no one’s watching. What does this value mean to you?

I see our team as a chain, understanding that the strength of this chain depends on each member’s contribution. To me, integrity is extremely important. I believe in setting an example of integrity and ensuring that people can always rely on me, helping strengthen the bond within our team. It’s important for me to be able to look at myself in the mirror and know that I have given my best in every situation. Of course, sometimes there are instances when I may not have done my best, but I always strive to offer what I can and contribute meaningfully.

What has been your greatest accomplishment to date, in your career?

One of the most significant achievements in my career is earning the respect of my colleagues. They recognize that I am always available and ready to assist whenever needed. There are instances when they ask me for help, and I take pride in being able to provide them with the motivation to accomplish what they once thought they couldn’t achieve. Witnessing their growth and success is extremely rewarding!

What is one item on your bucket list?

Throughout my life, I have been lucky to be able to travel quite a bit, so I would always love to do more of that. But I am also drawn to the idea of learning a few more languages. Currently, I hope to improve my Spanish skills and go on a journey to learn Italian. I’d love for the opportunity to use them during my future travels. This would certainly be a top item on my bucket list!

What is your secret to making a daily difference?

My secret to making a daily difference revolves around my dedication to the well-being of my colleagues. Their happiness is honestly the reason behind everything I do. Being a part of a healthy work environment brings me so much joy. Each morning my motivation comes from the idea that I get to contribute to the happiness of those around me. My goal is to make sure that every colleague feels valued and embraced as a part of the team. Creating a sense of belonging and fostering a welcoming environment is extremely important to me, and is how I make a daily difference!
